Swim Lessons are back!
All children registering for a lesson must register for a swim test first by scheduling below. Once you have your swim test you can register for a lesson at the Rec or Beach office
Goals of Lessons
Beekman Recreation Aquatics Department offers affordable Swimming Lessons so that youth have the opportunity to develop aquatic sports as a lifelong interest and healthy leisure activity.
Values of Lessons
Beekman Rec believes that swimming is an integral part of a child’s summer experience. We take pride in delivering an enjoyable and rewarding swim lesson experience. Our instructors are certified as Water Safety Instructors by the American Red Cross.
Learn to Swim Group Lessons, Levels 1 - 3
- Instruction is offered in Levels 1, 2 and 3 Monday-Friday
- Group lessons meet for 30 minutes
- The number of classes per level depends upon enrollment and unfortunately, we may have to cancel or combine classes depending upon enrollment

Guidelines
- Group Lessons for Levels 1, 2 and 3 are available for children ages 4 and up
- Please consider your child’s maturity and attention span before signing them up
- A parent/guardian must remain on the Swim Lesson Beach for the duration of the lesson
- All registrants for Levels 1-3 are required to be pre-tested to determine the appropriate level placement; all level placements are at the discretion of the instructors according to swimmer’s ability and Red Cross guidelines
- We do not schedule make-up lessons if the lesson is cancelled for inclement weather, aquatic emergencies, or if your child simply cannot make a lesson
- There are no refunds for missed lessons
- Students are required to have a land-based safety lesson for each Level
- Children can only be signed up for one session at a time
- Towards the end of a session, the Water Safety Instructor will indicate the level a child may be signed up for should another session of lessons be requested and such sign ups will begin the second Friday of each session
Fees
Resident Members: Level 1 Lessons are FREE $50 for all other levels *
Resident Non-members: $60
Non-Residents: $90
There is a $10 fees to change any registration
*To get the Member Discount, your family must have purchased a
Waterfront Membership prior to, the Swim Lesson registration.
Multiple Child Discounts*
1st & 2nd child: Full price
3rd child: 10% off
4th child: 10% off
5th child: 10% off
*Applies to children signed up the SAME session and registering at the same time
*This discount can only be applied in person
Registration
Swim tests are free and must occur prior to registering and paying for Group Swim Lessons
*Registration is only assured if you make payment. You can call in, or stop by to make payment. If you call in you must use a credit card. Credit cards will be charged an additional 3.25%.

** Annual Proof of Residency
**To be eligible for Town of Beekman resident discounts for programs, proof of residency is checked annually for all participants, including those who have previously been enrolled. We will check the tax rolls but depending on the outcome, you may be asked to provide:
1. Bills to your address, AND
2. Proof of identity in the form of a Government Issued Photo ID
